No longer counting the years...

Upon checking my email this morning, I was surprised to see that my inbox had been attacked with 20+ emails saying, "It's June and in honor of your birthday, here is a $10 off coupon for 'stuff that you really don't need, but since we sent you this coupon, you will now wind up buying more useless crap.'" I'd say that I deleted all these emails, but I didn't. I fully intend to use that $10 off coupon to World Market to buy myself a bottle of wine to celebrate the 1st anniversary of my turning 30 in two weeks. That's right people, I said 30, not 25.

I used to be all gung-ho about birthdays, but this year seems rather different. I guess a lot has happened in the last 11 months that a birthday now seems rather insignificant. I mean, what's one birthday when you're planning a wedding to your best friend?

The past few years have been rather low-key as far as birthdays are concerned. I guess my grandma ways have caught up with me after all this time because I'm almost rather content to let the day pass without any big to-do. Oh, except for maybe a trip to the spa for a facial, dinner, a cake...and maybe a present or two. So, from here on out, I'm staying 30 because 30 has been a rather good year and I'd like to keep celebrating it.
